Between June and July 2022, I had the pleasure of illustrating the advent calendar titled “The Crypto Advent Calendar” for London-based author and crypto expert Tara Annison. The style was inspired by the classic “Where’s Wally?” by Martin Handford. It was officially unveiled to the world in October 2022 and was well-received by the author’s audience. I hope you all enjoy it!

Creation process
In this project, my sole responsibility was creating the illustration. The concept and other elements such as product manufacturing, online store setup, and marketing were all handled by Tara Annison and her team.
Tara communicated the project’s vision through emails containing texts and drafts, outlining the overall idea, desired memes, and providing essential information. I dedicated time to researching the cryptocurrency niche to enhance the original concept with complementary ideas and populate the scene with relevant elements. Throughout the process, I enjoyed significant creative freedom, with the author offering minor suggestions for adjustments.
Launch:
Tara and her team produced 250 copies of the product and launched a website. Their marketing efforts are concentrated on the cryptocurrency niche, leveraging the author’s expertise in the field.

I am BEYOND excited to reveal the amazing design for the world’s first Crypto Puzzle Advent Calendar! Pedro Ismar Souto has done the most incredible job of capturing crypto memes, web3 jokes and blockchain references within this Where’s Wally style design.
Only two doors are numbered, the first and the last, and to figure out the order of doors to open you need to solve crypto based clues on the inside of each door. This will really test your crypto knowledge and out of the box thinking so is great for any degens and cypherpunks out there! I’ll also be giving clues each day on my twitter (@TaraAnnison) so even if you’re new to the space or need a coffee or two in the morning to wake your brain up, you can still be assured of your daily choc.
